The FoalGuard Foaling Alarm is an invaluable tool for any breeder. They save many hours of lost sleep and increase the chance of you being present when your foal is born, so you can give or get assistance if required. The FoalGuard Foaling Alarm works by attaching a small non invasive transmitter to the mares halter. When the mare lays down to foal, a signal is sent to a receiver which then sounds an alarm. There is a 10 second delay before the siren will sound, this is to minimize false alarms when the mare is rolling or scratching. A sleep switch is a feature unique to the FoalGuard Foaling Alarm. When the mare lays down flat to sleep, the alarm activates, once you are convinced she is not giving birth, you can activate the sleep function and the siren will not sound for 30 minutes. (most mares will not lay flat for more than 30 minutes) You can then go back to sleep without the siren ringing in your ear or waiting until your mare gets up before you can turn the alarm back on. An indicator light allows you to see if your mare is still laying down at any time. Once the 30 minutes passes the alarm will be active again. The siren only sounds when activated, it is a real time indication of what your mare is doing. 2 indicator lights also let you know if your mare is down and if she has been down while you have been away from the alarm.
